New Headquarters Pirelli35 in Porta Nuova Milan

The project by Park Associati and Snøhetta in Milan fuses architecture, landscape and two different approaches to design to create a generous, permeable and publicly accessible building that becomes a place of transit and urban mending. The design choice focuses on the hard retrofitting of the existing building and the creation of a new urban space. Through targeted interventions, the project enlarges and optimizes the aesthetic and structural qualities of the existing building, drawing on the particular architectural typologies that Milan expresses. The building is organized into three “levels”: the transparent ground floor and ninth floor provide a high degree of accessibility. Floors 1 to 8 contain the offices: an elegant and understated workplace that reflects the architectural language of the surrounding office buildings. The penthouse on the tenth floor creates an exclusive meeting point, with a splendid view of the city. The eco-sustainable aspects of the building are achieved through a series of thoughtful interventions. Low energy emission or recycled materials are used throughout the building while a large photovoltaic system powers a water-water heat pump for thermal generation.

In this context, Jendy Joss was responsible for the design and construction of the blind portions between the glass cells, with specially designed modular prefabricated systems with a “C” section for housing the external system channels.

The installation was carried out with a merlon for the lower portions and a crane for the upper parts, for approximately 500 Modulo JJ then covered with a waterproof air-water seal sheet and finishing steel sheet. The thermo-acoustic performance and speed of installation were an important plus for the chosen solution.
