The intervention aims to build the new Federzoni School Complex, which includes a preschool, elementary school and gymnasium serving a total of 448 pupils as well as an area with extracurricular use.
The new school complex, which has a total covered area of about 3,756 square meters, consists of: a gymnasium with locker rooms that will occupy a gross area of 1,314 square meters; a six-section kindergarten with agora and multipurpose spaces that will occupy a gross area of 1,230 square meters; and an elementary school within which there are ten classrooms, as well as two laboratories and the children’s library, for a gross area is 2,062 square meters.
“The concept of the school hub is developed around the idea of a village for children,” the designers explain. The facility will be nearly zero energy consumption, with a 4,600-square-meter park for ‘outdoor education , outdoor education, and “sports facilities of excellence,” also suitable for Coni competitions.
From the point of view of environmental sustainability, the Federzones will be developed with a view to high energy savings, thanks to precise building and technological choices. The goal of the design was to achieve the energy class ‘Nearly Zero Energy Building’ (nZEB)
